How long does it take to have my book adapted for film?

Again this depends on the material submitted, but generally a fiction novel of 400-500 pages will take 2-3 months.

Who would own the rights to the adapted work?

You would. Prior to any adaptation work commencing, a confidentiality agreement needs to be signed, meaning we would not retain any further rights over the work. This means that Frontier Media would not require a percentage of any future advance or royalties achieved by the adapted work.

How much artistic input can I have with the final script?

We aim to develop a script that is technically and artistically sympathetic to the original work. Because the medium of film and written works of fiction are quite different, changes often need to be made to plot, location, characters etc, to allow the story to be shown rather than told. However when the script is provided to a client it is done so in PDF and word format meaning that alterations can be made by the client if it is deemed necessary.

Does Frontier Media give assistance selling scripts to the film and television industry?

Our company is purely involved with the adaptation and development of film scripts; we choose not to involve ourselves with the sale of scripts to avoid any conflict of interest. We do however provide a guide to script selling as part of our service which gives lists of agents, production companies etc which can be approached to seek representation.

I have an unpublished novel; can I have this adapted for film?

Yes. In fact having a manuscript for a novel and a film script can often strengthen the chances of a publication deal. Again all copyright is protected by the confidentiality agreement.

How much information do I need to provide to Frontier Media to develop a film script from my concept?

Put simply, as much as possible. We can provide a detail sheet which can prompt all the information we would require to develop a script.

How safe would my idea for a film be?

100% Safe. Prior to any work commencing a full confidentiality agreement would be in place.

How in the payment and delivery structure arranged?

After an agreement is made for Frontier Media to commence work, the confidentiality agreement and contract is put in place and signed by all parties. At this stage, 50% of total cost would be due followed by the remainder upon completion. A weekly update of progress will also be provided.

Is it possible to meet with a representative to discuss the adaptation/film script?

This depends on your location, but in many cases it is possible to arrange a face to face meeting either before work commences, or upon completion to hand over hard copies and sign off on the work.
